The '60s super sleuth and unlikely sex-god is back once again. This second outing for Mike Meyers' sexy spy may not have the first film's freshness, but is still bursting with energy and enough horribly comic characters to wrench plenty of laughs out of its relentless spoofery of all that is "groovy, baby, yeah!!". The basic plot concerns Dr Evil's plan to go back in time to 1969 and steal his arch enemy's mojo and whilst there, hold the world to ransom with his futuristic technology, namely a "laser". This is all an excuse for some fantastically puerile gags, the highlights involving a 1/8 sized clone of Dr Evil called Mini-Me (an excellent turn by Vernon J. Troyer, who steals nearly all the scenes he's in) a grotesque 500 lb Scottish thug called "Fat Bastard" and an excellent scene involving silhouettes from a tent (I wont spoil it for you.) This is obviously not to taken seriously and is just an excuse to let Austin get back to the sixties where he belongs. Its back in swinging London where he meets beautiful spy Felicity Shagwell (the delectable Heather Graham) who helps him on his mission and provides value for ticket price alone by looking absolutely stunning throughout. If you enjoyed the first film you should know what to expect as there's not many surprises but Meyer's talent for characterisation and his relaxed charm is reason enough to see the movie. Due to the success of this movie in the states (it grossed more on its opening weekend then the first film made in its whole run and knocked The Phantom Menace off the top spot,) you can bet your life on a third outing for the irrepressible A/P.
