Although still in an embryonic stage in their career, Lowgold show promise in what seems to be an upturn in songwriting driven music. Examples of this can be seen high in this week's album chart from Coldplay, lets hope the trend continues. The band couldn't be seen as energetic on stage but this hardly matters, as with Elliot Smith, when the songs are strong.
Currently getting plenty of airplay on XFM is their song titled "In Amber", from the soon to be released 108 EP which is reminisant of Teenage Fanclub and a more mellow Buffalo Tom. Out Of Reach and Can't Say No follow suit, but to prove they are not a one-trick-pony they can turn up the pace so as not to lull the crowd into boredom. This isn't too likely as it is a brief 7-song set in around half an hour to give people a taste of what is to come.
