When Dinosaur was released in the States last May, it got a lot of stick for its derived, simplistic storylines. How ridiculous it was to see Dinosaurs talking, and how childish the whole thing was. Well, reality check guys... this movie is for kids. Grow up!
It was reported in Foocha! six months ago that Dinosaur was to be directed by Paul Verhoven, with no dialogue and a huge amount of dino-flesh being torn apart. Now that would have been a different matter. But the powers that be at Disney (probably rightly) judged that there wasn't much of a market for a Dino flesh ripper. Instead they took a story-line from God-botherer's favourite "The Old Testament", mixed in a few bits from "Lion King" and "Bugs Life" and created another one of those cloying schult-fests we call a Disney Classic.
But I'm not being fair, it's not all bad. If, like me, you're a bit of a Dino-fan, you'll come out of this movie with a smile of your face. If you sat through Jurassic Park thinking "less of Dicky, more of Dino please" then this one's for you. Sure it's a shame the damn things talk, and that even the Dinobots in 1980's Transformers cartoon were better researched, but nonetheless, there's serious no-brainer entertainment to be had from this under-rated monster mash (sort of).
