Yes, folks the Vids boys are back. Straight talking hippy slacker type Stef Gardiner and his scary acerbic welsh sidekick Nigel Buckland trawl through the current new releases, some of which one may only find in the darker recesses of your local Blockbuster store. The show kicks off with a deservedly enthusiastic appraisal of John Carpenter’s first feature, Dark Star, surely the one film to truly marry the concepts of "cult" and "sci-fi".
The zany flatmates then dissect cheesy Hong Kong actioner The Lone Wolf and Cub, biographical doc, Crumb, "instructional" sauce from the Lover’s Guide, French farce Le Diner de Cons, and the film about the biggest loser in history; Rogue Trader starring the almost omnipresent Ewan "Padawan" MacGregor. The show’s success hangs on the fact that Nigel and Stef genuinely do know what they are talking about, albeit laced with numerous scatological witticisms and a now fairly predictable weekly reference to something called a "bell end".
Another bonus is that more than one clip of each vid will be shown, giving the viewer more of an overall taste of the movie morsels in question. When it comes to the critical comment, it is sometimes difficult to concentrate on what one is saying when the other is arsing around in the background, but for an honest, insightful and funny look at the latest and best movies to buy or rent, I recommend a weekly dose of VIDS!
