Bridget’ is Midget
Talk, , 02 January 1999
The inevitable film version of top tube read and girlie angst classic ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ steps up into a new gear this week with the announcement of the choice for the lead role. Beating sensible UK kook faves Bonham-Cater and Emily Watson to the role is half-pint blonde cutie Renee Zellweger, a lady so short that even top movie short-arse Tom Cruise dwarfed her ( in ‘Jerry Maguire’). Fans should hold on the re-contruction rage for the mo, as it seems the the film will still be very much London set, and Ms Renee will no doubt doing the Gywneth Paltrow London Gal language course.

With Richard ‘every bloody brit comedy-drama hit ever’ Curtis in the driving seat alongside updated costume drama pro Andrew Davies, the project can’t fail to pick up the bucks as well as not failing to become yet another one of the many generic modern ‘comedy with a little bit a drama’s that we seem to specialise in these days. Fifty pounds says they slip in a tragic sub character just to bleed the hearts a little, as well as a short cameo for Rowan Atkinson – and Westlife do the Motown cover version title track. Top Home
