They say that Shaft is a bad motherÂ….. film – Damn right.
Talk, , 15 January 1999
70’s retro culture steams onward, and should reach it’s apex with the remake of seminal blaxsploitation thriller ‘Shaft’. It should be a dead cert hit – ‘Boyz in the hood’ director John Singleton working with the perfect man for the lead Samuel Jackson, and of course that great Issac Hayes theme tune. But the trailer is doing the rounds now, and it looks like less hot-dog and more plain dog.

Rumours of dissent on the film set between the principles and the director who allegedly spend most of the time whooping it up in his trailer are born out by a film that looks like a serious hack job. There’s lots of faces being punched and cars being crashed but you don’t get any impression of a plot. Even the theme tune sounds cocked around with. Beware you hipsters, coughing up cash for this could potentially see you Shafted. Ha. Shafted!. Funny. Speaking personally, I’d be glad to see the end of this 70’s thing anyway, Cool cops and Funk music? – I just remember the tank tops and ‘Crown court’.

Where do we stand in all of this , being that Foocha is partial to a bit of rumour mongerage on a regular basis ? – we don’t give a hoot which monkey brings us our bananas, just as long as they’re fresh. Top Home
