| Talk,
Gunning for a hit,

It happens to the best of them. After struggling to make viewers like grating, bun-lainen school-maamish Captain Janeway, producer Rick Berman gave in an hired a large pair of breasts in shiney lycra. With a big pair of tits, the show became a hit.
So, with a track record of recent failure on his hands, X-Files producer Chris Carter was not about to make the same mistake. Recognising that Lone Gunmen Langly, Frohike, and Byers were not about to get the nation's pulses racing, he brought in a sexy guy and gal to offset the Gunmen's nerdy bad looks. Zuleikha Robinson plays Yves. Robinson optimistically claims that her character is "the serious undercurrent of the show, the mystery," (ahem!) whilst Stephen Snedden's character, Jimmy Bond (?!) is a dim, patriotic stud with a heart of gold (probably more accurate, if you ignore the last bit).
Carter's desperate attempt to inject some sex appeal into the show may have been ill-judged. Whilst there's nothing to Voyager but a big pair of boobs (and I don't mean Rick Berman and Brannon Braga) the Lone Gunmen has already got a lot going for it.
