Welcome to the new look Foocha!. We hope you like what you see. Foocha! has been going for a year and a half now, and this is our first major re-design. We’ve focussed on making the site clearer to read, faster to download, and easier to find your way around.
You’ll also notice we’ve banned the banner ad. This helps to make our page design the cleanest and nicest of any on the Web, but also represents part of our commitment to be more outspoken than any other site in the UK. We can say exactly what we like without offending any advertisers – how many other sites can make that claim?
On the design front, we’ve kept the brightly colour feel of Foocha!, so regular readers should feel right at home. We’ve introduced more consistency to the navigation menus, so you’ll be able to find your favourite sections faster. We’ve make the page design scale to fit the window, so whatever size your screen, you won’t see any nasty white spaces. And we’ve improved the review sections, so that each review gets its own page – no more waiting for 10 reviews to download when you only want to read one.
We’ve also had a bit of a spring clean, taking out some tired old sections, and adding some exciting new ones. To help you find your way around, we’ve grouped our content into four channels. Reviews, Talk, World and Scan. Reviews needs little explanation, although you’ll notice we’ve added a great new Live section. Talk is where some of our most outspoken writers tell it how it is; World offers outspoken views from across the globe, and gives us an insight into what Johnny-foreigner thinks of us Brits; and Scan keeps you abreast of all the latest developments in the world of entertainment.
The changes are not only cosmetic – we’ve also taken a look under the hood and put in a brand new engine. Based entirely on open source software (Linux, Apache, Tomcat & Cocoon) the site now publishes itself! Just waitÂ… In a couple of years the site will gain sentience and destroy the world.
